What does SENS stand for?

SENS stands for Safer Environments & Needs-based Support. It reflects how we approach safety, wellbeing, and risk: grounded in real-world conditions and shaped by what people actually need to function and sustain their work.

Who do you work with?

We work with media professionals, human rights defenders, civil society actors, NGOs, and teams operating in complex or high-risk environments. Support can be for individuals, teams, or organisations.

What kinds of support do you offer?

Support may include safety and risk advisory, duty of care support, trauma-informed wellbeing and psychosocial support, trainings and workshops, and incident support and aftercare. The focus is always on what is practical and workable in your context.

Do you work internationally?

Yes. SENS Consulting works internationally and can support individuals and teams across different regions, primarily through online engagements.

How do we work together?

Engagements can take different forms depending on your needs—short-term consultancy/advisory, training and workshops, ongoing support/retainers, or individual sessions. We’ll usually start with a conversation to understand your context and what would be most useful.

When should we reach out?

Get in touch if you’re planning work in complex environments, supporting teams under pressure, responding to an incident, or looking to strengthen safety and wellbeing practices in a way that fits operational realities.

How do I get in touch?

You can reach out via the Contact page. If you’re not sure what you need yet, a short message with your context is enough—we’ll help you identify the most appropriate next step.

Is what I share confidential?

We treat information shared in consultations and support conversations with care and discretion. If there are any limits to confidentiality in a specific context, we will clarify them upfront.

Do you offer support for teams as well as individuals?

Yes. Support can be tailored for individuals, teams, or organisations. For teams, this may include trainings, facilitated reflection, aftercare following incidents, and advisory support to strengthen duty of care and internal practices.

Can you help if someone needs support but may not be able to afford your services directly?

Support Pathways

In some situations, additional support pathways may exist through Media Support and Human Rights support organisations, networks, or dedicated assistance mechanisms. Where relevant, SENS Consulting may help identify possible options or referral pathways depending on context, eligibility, and the nature of the need.
